TAKING A ROLE IN OUR WORLD:
* The world has reached a tipping point, where more people care about and want action to protect the planet than those who do not, according to a recent survey that revealed various social segments
* Planetary stewards – Driven by a sense of urgency and responsibility towards nature, advocating for system change to address environmental challenges, food supply and energy security
* Concerned optimists – Characterised by their blend of high concern and optimism about the future, retaining trust in government and other institutions
* Steady progressives – Notable for their steady and moderate approach to environmental and other issues, they seek balanced solutions that address concerns
* Climate sceptics – Distinguished by their dismissal of environmental concerns and opposition to action on climate change
* The unengaged – Characterised by their lack of interest or engagement on social and environmental issues, focused on other worries
* The stewards, optimists and steady progressives accounted for 61 per cent of those polled, with climate sceptics at 13 per cent and the unengaged 26 per cent.
